The Retro Group Scorecard is regularly updated summary of retro group performance in an easy to understand format. It was created to increase accessibility timeliness, and transparency of WA State Retrospective Rating Groups, in order to assist employers, and those advising employers on their retro decisions in making more data-driven decisions when it comes to retro programs.

The Retro Group Scorecard was created and is updated by Redpoint Claims, a third party administrator of workers comp claims. More information can be found at redpointclaims.com. Any inquiries about the Retro Group Scorecard should be forwarded to Spencer ([email protected]).

The most common mistakes come from focusing on the wrong signals or making short-term comparisons.

  • Chasing the highest refund from a single year instead of looking at multi-year performance
  • Ignoring how the group is managed from a claims and safety perspective
  • Overlooking consistency and stability in favor of one or two strong years
  • Assuming all groups are run the same behind the scenes
  • Not considering how engaged the employer needs to be to achieve strong results
  • Not factoring in the size of a retro group (Small groups tend to be more volatile)
  • A pre-existing relationship with a trade association, with retro as an “add on” without looking at options

The Retro Report Card derives its data from L&I generated reports, including from the following web page:
